Product Manager Resume: 45+ ATS Keywords That Actually Match JDs
May 20, 2026
PM resumes have a specific problem: the job is inherently cross-functional and fuzzy, which makes it tempting to write vague bullets ("worked with engineering to ship features"). Vague bullets don't match keywords, and keyword match is 25% of your ATS score — the biggest single category. Here's what to use instead.
Core PM vocabulary
Product roadmap, product strategy, product-market fit, go-to-market (GTM), user stories, backlog prioritization, A/B testing, product requirements document (PRD), OKRs, KPIs, sprint planning, agile/scrum, stakeholder management, cross-functional leadership, customer discovery, user research.
By discipline
Growth PM: funnel optimization, conversion rate, retention, activation, cohort analysis, experimentation, North Star metric, growth loops.
Platform/technical PM: API design, developer experience (DX), technical roadmap, system architecture, SDK, third-party integrations, engineering partnership.
B2B/enterprise PM: customer success, enterprise requirements, SLA, RFP, sales enablement, churn reduction, expansion revenue.
Data/analytics tools you should list if true: SQL, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Looker, Tableau, Jira, Productboard, Figma (for spec review).
Quantify the impact, not the activity
Weak: "Managed product roadmap for mobile app." Strong: "Owned mobile roadmap for a 2M MAU app; shipped onboarding redesign that lifted activation 18% and cut Day-1 churn 9%." The ATS matches "roadmap" either way — the number is what gets a human to call you.
Seniority signals ATS filters check for
Director+ roles often have hard filters on words like "0-to-1," "P&L ownership," "org design," "hired and managed," or team size ("led a team of 8"). If you managed people or budget, say the number — recruiters' saved searches frequently query on exact figures.
Common mistake: job title mismatch
Job Title Alignment is its own 10% scoring category. If you were a "Product Owner" but you're applying to "Senior Product Manager" roles, don't just keep your old title verbatim — add a parenthetical or align your summary line language to the target title, since many ATS platforms weight title match heavily.
