DevOps, SRE & Platform Engineer Resume: 50+ ATS Keywords That Get You Shortlisted
May 28, 2026
DevOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering postings share a huge vocabulary but each has its own emphasis: DevOps leans CI/CD and automation, SRE leans reliability and incident response, Platform Engineering leans internal tooling and developer experience. Mixing them up costs you Job Title Alignment (10% of your score). Here's how to keyword each correctly.
Cloud infrastructure (baseline for all three)
AWS, GCP, Azure, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Kubernetes, Docker, containerization, serverless, Lambda, load balancing, auto-scaling, multi-region, high availability.
Infrastructure as code
Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, Ansible, Helm charts, GitOps, ArgoCD, configuration management.
CI/CD (core DevOps)
Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, build pipelines, artifact management, deployment automation, blue-green deployment, canary releases, rollback strategy.
Reliability & observability (core SRE)
SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, error budgets, incident response, on-call, postmortems, root cause analysis, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty, distributed tracing, chaos engineering, capacity planning.
Developer experience (core Platform Engineering)
Internal developer platform (IDP), self-service infrastructure, golden paths, service catalog, developer tooling, Backstage, platform-as-a-product, reducing cognitive load.
Security & compliance overlap
Secrets management (Vault), least-privilege IAM, SOC 2, vulnerability scanning, container security, network policies.
Quantify uptime and speed, not just tools
Weak: "Managed Kubernetes clusters and CI/CD pipelines." Strong: "Reduced deployment time from 45 to 6 minutes by rebuilding CI/CD on GitHub Actions; cut P1 incidents 35% by introducing SLO-based alerting across 40 services." Numbers on MTTR, uptime %, deploy frequency, and cost savings are exactly what hiring managers scan for after the ATS passes you through.
Title-match tip
If the posting says "Site Reliability Engineer" and your last title was "DevOps Engineer," don't silently rewrite your title — instead mirror the posting's language in your summary line and bullets ("reliability," "on-call," "error budgets") so both the ATS keyword match and the Job Title Alignment category pick up the overlap honestly.
